Several times during the current sermon series on Living with Providence Pastor Chris has given his definition of God’s governing providence. Pastor Chris has been kind enough to provide his definition for this blog. Here is that definition:

God reigns over all things such that He governs every facet of nature and all the doings of His moral creatures so as to accomplish his eternal, foreordained purposes. Yet, in His governance, God never violates the moral responsibility of His creatures or their freedom to freely choose in concert with their will, nor does God do any violence to His own moral perfection by leaving Himself liable to the charge of responsibility for evil, either as its author of approver.

It seems like we in America, in our civil society, we have got a skewed view of God. You
see back in the days of the puritans they had a more balanced view of God. What I mean
is that if you pick up their books on their sermons they preached about the love of God,
His mercy, His compassion, but equally they preached on God’s warth, His holiness, and
His judgment of sin. How often do we hear sermons today with titles like Jonathans
Edwards

  • “Sinners in the hand of an angry God”

  • “The justice of God in the damnation of sinners”

We need to get back to this correct and biblical view of God. We need to understand that
He hates sin and will judge sinners.  Finish reading…

Dear Church Family, The New Testament clearly and consistently teaches that the local church is to be shepherded and overseen (Acts 20:28; 1 Peter 5:1-3) by a group (plurality) of qualified, godly men (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:3-9). Such has been and continues to be our conviction and practice at Grace Bible Church of Brandon. In an effort to be more efficient and, we trust by God’s grace, effective in our shepherding of this precious flock we think it necessary to identify individual elders as providing primary oversight to distinct areas of ministry responsibility. To that end, we are providing you a list of those assignments. We pray you’ll find it useful to your own service within our fellowship should you have questions, need assistance, or desire to engage in ministry pertaining to any of these broad areas of oversight. Please see this as our effort walk among you as fellow-sheep all the while being faithful to our charge as shepherds under the watchful care of our Chief Shepherd, the Lord Jesus Christ(1 Peter 5:4).
